Durban & the North Coast

CCTV in Durban. Every camera answers one question.

A face at the gate. A number plate on the driveway. A loading bay at three in the morning. We agree what each camera must capture and confirm the proposed position with you. Larger and shared layouts are drawn before anything is mounted.

Fifteen years of installations behind it. Durban CCTV is the camera arm of DG Technologies, working across Durban, Umhlanga, Ballito and the North Coast since 2011.

Our own camera, 04:53 on a Saturday. He was over the gate and gone in under a minute — and the footage was there in the morning.

That is a Tapo C320. It can be set to trigger on people only, so a cat crossing the driveway or a branch moving in the wind does not wake you. When it does see a person it sounds its own siren and pushes a notification to your phone.

Ask us whether it suits your property

You see the coverage before we cut a wall.

Most quotes list cameras. Ours starts with a marked-up plan of your property showing what each camera will see and where the cable runs, so you can point at the gap before it becomes one.

STEP 01

Walk the property

We come out and stand at each proposed camera position. What a lens will actually see gets decided on site, in about twenty minutes.

STEP 02

Record the positions

The proposal names each position and the result it must deliver. On a small site, that is usually enough to review the work clearly.

STEP 03

Draw complex layouts

Larger, shared or difficult sites get a coverage drawing showing the viewing angles, cable routes and areas left outside the design.

New systems, existing systems and the gaps between.

Installation starts here on the homepage. We also repair, extend and maintain existing systems, and plan cameras for smaller businesses and shared residential schemes.

Durban, the North Coast and the Highway area.

Homes, complexes, offices and small industrial sites. Estate-wide systems, access control and automation are handled by DG Technologies.

A site visit settles most of it.

Twenty minutes on the property tells us more than an hour on the phone. The proposal records the camera purposes and positions, with a coverage drawing where the site needs one.

Common questions

How much does CCTV installation cost in Durban?
Roughly R1 400 per camera installed at the lower end, around R2 000 for a typical installation, and up to R3 500 where the position is difficult or the camera has to identify a face. The camera is often the cheapest part — power, cabling and Wi-Fi coverage move the number more than the device does. See what CCTV costs in Durban for the full breakdown.
How many cameras do I actually need?
Fewer than most quotes suggest. Cameras follow decision points — entrances, gates, the route between them — not floor area. We work out what each camera must answer, then place the minimum number that answers all of it.
Do you work on an existing CCTV system?
Yes. Adding to an existing system is usually limited by free channels on the recorder rather than by the camera itself, so the first thing we check is what headroom the current equipment has.
Which areas do you cover?
We work across Durban, Durban North, Glenashley, Umhlanga, La Lucia, Umdloti, La Mercy, Ballito, Salt Rock, Mount Edgecombe, Brettenwood Coastal Estate, Zimbali, Simbithi Eco Estate, Westville, Hillcrest and the surrounding areas of Durban and the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast.
